Architectural Design

The Architectural Drafting and Design program prepares individuals to apply technical knowledge and skills to the basic aspects of planning, preparing and interpreting architectural, structural, electrical, topographical, and other drawings and sketches used in various Architectural fields.  Instruction is designed to provide experiences in hand drawing and Auto-Cad; the use of reproduction materials, equipment, and processes; the preparation of reports and data sheets for writing specifications; the development of plans and schedules.  Students will be designing for Building Code compliance, energy efficiency and A.D.A. accessibility.  Upperclassman will be exposed to 3-D drawings of exterior elevations, conceptual drawing and interior elevations.  Model building is also used to help students understand the physical relationship between drawings and the finished product.
